A Very British Scandal Season 2

One of the most costly, longest-running, and most controversial divorce cases of the 20th century is depicted in the three-part Amazon Prime video serial A Very British Scandal. After dissolving their marriage in 1963, a court labeled the Duchess of Argyll a “prostitute” with a “debased sexual craving.”

Clare Foy of Netflix’s The Crown is playing Margaret Whigham, a gorgeous socialite who had her extra-marital romances exposed by her husband Paul Bettany, who used compromising images of his wife to gain the divorce.

While the drama was based on a real tale, the press and public were privy to personal aspects of the couple’s love past throughout the trial, which provided fodder for the show’s premise. The Argyll divorce, when analyzed in light of today’s norms, reveals themes of institutional sexism, sexual shame, and aristocratic excess that plagued Britain in the 1960s.

Is the Second Season of A Very British Scandal Going To Be Available On Prime Video?

The Duke and Duchess of Argyll’s narrative will not be continued in any capacity. One-and-done: This is a one-off miniseries. Throughout the three episodes, we learned about the beginning, middle, and finish of the story.

Typical of British television series, this is the case here. To some extent, it’s an excellent strategy for ensuring that the whole tale is presented while also leaving us wanting more. As a bonus, it’s a terrific opportunity to get some huge personalities involved in TV series that they would otherwise avoid for movies.

A new narrative and a new controversy aren’t out of the question, despite this. There have been plenty of scandals in British history, after all. The ’60s and ’70s have been the focus of both English Scandal and British Scandal, but there are many more decades to explore.

There don’t seem to be any immediate plans for a second season. That doesn’t rule out the possibility. We’ll keep an eye out for any further developments.

A Very British Scandal Season Trailer

During the high-profile divorce of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, the latter was mocked by the press and people around her for the break-up of her marriage. The lawsuit contained allegations of forgery, theft, assault, drug use, secret recording, bribery, and an obscene polaroid image, all of which threatened to damage the Duchess’ reputation.

By looking at attitudes toward women and questioning whether institutional sexism was pervasive in post-war Britain, the series records the post-war social and political milieu.

Even as her peers, the press, and the legal system worked to discredit her, Margaret maintained a strong sense of self-respect and dignity despite the betrayal of those closest to her as well as the public embarrassment she received as a result of her downfall.
