AJ McLean’s Decision to Quit Alcohol Led to a Life-Changing Weight Loss Journey

Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean flaunted his abs while demonstrating his impressive weight loss. He admitted that initially consuming alcohol had contributed to his weight increase, but he has lost 32 pounds altogether since giving up alcohol.

He declared, “Drinking made me gain weight, but it also affected my mental health. I’m in the best form of my life right now, though. I would often tell myself, “I’m going to accomplish this. I’m going to strive to be my best self.”

McLean started by making small dietary changes. He declared that he was “in the finest shape of my life.” The first things to go were alcohol and fast food. That wasn’t easy, and at first AJ McLean had trouble with it. He stated that during those difficult moments, he would question himself on a variety of topics, such as: Do I want to feel good about myself? Do I want to inspire others?

As he celebrated a year of sobriety, the Backstreet Boys member thought about the benefits his journey has brought him both psychologically and physically.

According to AJ McLean, his sobriety has also enabled him to rediscover Alexander James McLean from the perspective of his mental health, rather than just the boy band member AJ.

Former “yo-yo dieter” McLean achieved success by keeping a healthy balance between his daily protein consumption and body weight.

AJ McLean’s Daily Routine

I’m eating a lot of protein—140 grammes, to be exact, AJ McLean remarked. Breakfast often consists of egg whites, oats, and grain-free pancakes. At lunch, he’ll have a hearty salad with grilled chicken, and for supper, he’ll eat a steak or burger on a lettuce bun with a side of asparagus. Apples, protein drinks, and almonds are some of McLean’s favourite foods because of how high in fibre they are.

Also, he exercises five days a week. Before beginning his weight training, he does 30 minutes of aerobic activity. Lower body exercises should only be done on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while upper body exercises should only be done on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The recording artist is now living a healthy, drug- and alcohol-free life after persevering in the face of previous struggles with sobriety. He posted comparison photos of himself in 2021 and 2022 on September 1 with the remark, “It’s amazing what a person can do with a little perseverance and goal-setting. But, the voyage is far from done. This is only the start! Healthy living, sobriety, and no more dad body! Move along! You can accomplish it if I can!”

In an interview, he claimed that “AJ is kind of the superstar that was enjoying the rockstar lifestyle and Alex was stuffed down.” Yet, I’ve now arrived at a location where they can both coexist.

On September 26, he commemorated 365 days without alcohol. “I am so extremely delighted to be at the place that I am now,” the musician exclaimed. He stated that he has never been better because of his sobriety, the support of his wife Rochelle and his children Lyric, 5, and Elliott, 9, as well as the prospect of a new solo album.
