Ryan Landis, a young Texan from Plano, conceived up HangEase while working on a school assignment in the third grade. Ryan Landis, at the tender age of ten, invented the folding hanger known as HangEase. He began by destroying the clothes hangers in the closet before he even got to his clothes.

Who Created Hang Ease?
Ryan Landis is the owner and founder of HangEase hangers. Eight years old at the time, in 2006, he founded the company to solve a problem he was having at home.
Another mom was interested in his product and eventually made the connection between Ryan Landis and Walmart. In order to market his invention, Ryan sought the services of a patent attorney and eventually distributed it to one hundred stores.
This is where it all began for HangEase, and Ryan, at age eight, became a successful entrepreneur.
HangEase Before Shark Tank
Inspiration for new businesses may come from anywhere; for Ryan Landis of Plano, Texas’s HangEase, that somewhere was a third-grade science fair project that sparked the time- and the money-saving idea that led him to the Shark Tank.
Ryan, at the tender age of eight, was no different from any other boy his age in that he would rip his shirts right off the hanger. Students were assigned the “Creation Convention” school assignment, which required them to look around their own homes, identify a problem, and come up with a solution. Ryan looked at the hangers in his own closet and eventually nurtured one with a remarkable pivot right in the middle. Clothing and the hanger itself would be protected from a fall thanks to the pivot that would allow the hanger to overlap up.
After finishing his project, Ryan displayed it in an exhibition, and luck shone on the young creator when the mother of a classmate ended up running a firm with connections to major retailers. She was able to assist young Ryan in 2006 in getting his technology supplied in retail giant Walmart, and business was reasonably fruitful.
Sadly, Ryan’s daily responsibilities became a necessity, and he was forced to put his business on hold while he finished his studies. Ryan, then 19 years old, finished school in 2014 and was looking to convince one of the sharks to jump at the chance to partner with him in the HangEase business. So, in April of 2014, he decided to try his luck on Shark Tank.
The Pitch of HangEase in the Shark Tank
For his 19th birthday in 2014, Ryan appeared on the show Shark Tank to present his business plan to the show’s eponymous panel of investors. Ryan went to the shark to ask for $80,000 in exchange for a 30% stake in Hang Ease Hangers.
He gave the sharks a demonstration of the product’s features and benefits. He was forthright in his declaration that he had spent the previous decade studying rather than working in the field.
Before he appeared on the show, he had already sold 400,000 Hang Ease hangers, increasing sales from $200,000 to $70,000. The sharks were startled that the corporation, Walmart, stopped selling the product.
Lori insisted that he secure a patent for the hangers, but she maintains that she’s seen something like them before.
Roberts didn’t see a market for the product, so he gave up on it. Kevin was uninterested in the plan and decided to bail. Barbara backed out because she thought Ryan was neglecting his company.
Mark made Lori an offer of $80,000 for 30% ownership of HangEase Hangers and inquired if she was interested in joining the deal. As a result of agreeing to take $80,000 in exchange for 30% of his company, Ryan is now able to pursue his next goal.
HangEase Now in 2022 – The After Shark Tank Update
Despite the success, Ryan experienced as a result of his presence on the show, the HangEase company has not had a smooth ride since then.
Despite the fact that the HangEase fragment was initially disseminated in May of 2014, the company’s website has not been updated since then. Ryan expresses appreciation to site visitors for their support and compliments regarding the performance, and he also assures them that he is working hard to get HangEase to customers as soon as possible. The wide availability of imitations, some of which appear to be functionally and structurally indistinguishable from the original, suggests that the utility patent and the territory it protected may have been inadequate.
I called HangEase to see if they knew anything about the deal Mark and Lori struck, but nobody answered the phone. It appears that HangEase has no active social media presence since its Facebook page was taken down sometime in 2015. Not having a website suggests that operations have been suspended permanently, rather than temporarily halted.
Despite the fact that the specific reasons behind the failure of any arrangement struck on the show are unknown, I seriously doubt that Ryan Landis is sitting around waiting for a more successful patent; rather, the inventive business person is undeniably bound to be chipping away at his nefarious schemes.
