Actress and activist Sally Anne Struthers hail from the United States. She received two Emmys for her performances as Gloria Stivic on All in the Family, the daughter of Archie and Edith Bunker (played by Carroll O’Connor and Jean Stapleton), and Babette on Gilmore Girls.

Margaret Caroline (née Jernes) and Robert Alden Struthers, a surgeon, welcomed their second daughter, Sally Anne, into the world on July 28, 1947, in Portland, Oregon. Sue is her elder sister. Norwegian immigrants made up her maternal grandparents.
Struthers was reared by her single mother in the Concordia district of northeast Portland after her father abandoned the family when she was around nine years old. As Struthers was growing up, her mother, who worked at Bonneville Power Administration to support herself and her two children, had severe depression.
