After graduating from high school in 1964, Palmer wed the former Susan Ryan. His and Ryan’s daughters are Jamie and Kelly. Ryan wasn’t a big baseball fan, according to Palmer, who also noted that she would “bring her knitting and/or a friend, who usually liked baseball even less, to the games.”
In 2007, Palmer wed divorcee Susan Earle, and the couple had a son with autism who is now an adult. The Palmers have homes in Corona Del Mar, California, and Palm Beach, Florida. Palmer bought a penthouse condo in Little Italy in 2006 for his time in Baltimore working as an Orioles announcer.
