marvel movies in order

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a shared universe and media property centered on a series of Marvel Studios superhero films. The films are based on characters that feature in Marvel Comics’ American comic novels.

Television shows, short films, digital series, and novels are all part of the franchise. The shared universe was created by combining plot concepts, places, cast, and characters, much like the original Marvel Universe in comic books.

Iron Man (2008) was the first MCU film, and it kicked off Phase One of the franchise, which culminated in the crossover picture The Avengers (2012). Phase Two began with Iron Man 3 (2013) and ended with Ant-Man and the Wasp (2015). (2015).

Captain America: Civil War (2016) kicked off Phase Three, which ended with Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). The “Infinity Saga” refers to the first three installments of the franchise. Black Widow was the first film of Phase Four (2021).

If you want to see the Marvel and Avengers films in chronological sequence, starting with the World War II-set Captain America: The First Avenger, we’ve compiled a list of all 33 MCU films and series in one place!

While Iron Man, which was set and released in 2008, can lay claim to being the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Evans has Robert Downey Jr. beat in terms of story. The Tesseract, an energy cube that begins the Infinity Saga and culminates in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, is also extensively presented there.

Captain Marvel, the blockbuster with a blockbuster, is the next film in the timeline, set in 1995 and starring Brie Larson as the intergalactic Carol Danvers. Then it’s back to the beginning with Iron Man and RDJ’s world-changing performance as Tony Stark. After that, the films are viewed in chronological sequence, with the exception of 2021’s Black Widow, which takes place after Captain America: Civil War.
