Miona Bell, a cosmetic artist from Serbia who appeared on season 9 of “90 Day Fiancé,” is at the center of a blackfishing scandal because of some old photos she posted on Instagram.
Miona Bell, a Serbian cast member of “90 Day Fiancé,” has been accused of blackfishing after posting before and after images of herself on Instagram. Almost three years ago, South Dakota’s own Jibri Bell met Miona while on tour with his band Black Serbs in her country.
The encounter with the Nis woman set off a chain reaction that resulted in Jibri popping the question to Miona while they were on holiday in Thailand. Season 9 of 90 Days to a Wife features Miona relocating to America to be with Jibri and his family. Miona hopes to live like the Kardashians in Los Angeles but may have to make do with a similar lifestyle in Rapid City.
Jibri, a kooky and free spirit, finally discovered the one he was meant to be within Miona, a fiery little ball of anger. Jibri moved about the United States a lot after he moved away from home at the age of 17, eventually settling in Los Angeles.
However, Jibri’s finances were depleted by the costs of petitioning for Miona’s K-1 visa, the pandemic’s effect on his concerts, and his extensive travel, so he had to move back in with his parents. For the next six to twelve months, when Black Serb’s frontman Jibri gets back on his feet, he would like Miona to live with him in his little city. In contrast, Miona would rather travel to New York and Los Angeles than get married on the prairie and act her age.
Mina’s appearance has been the subject of much discussion among 90-Day Fiancé viewers as Jibri and her cope with post-wedding blues. Numerous archived photographs of her have surfaced online, and they don’t seem to have anything in common with the Miona who uses Instagram.
Miona’s transformation from darker to lighter skin and sleeker hair was documented by Instagram blogger @90daythemelanatedway. Some of Miona’s fans have observed that she has fuller lips and a tan in her most recent images. Some of Miona’s supporters have accused her of blackfishing, the practice of using blackface by a white person.
Given that Serbia is located in Europe, someone asked Miona whether this was her natural skin tone. Her response to this question has subsequently been deleted from Instagram. Miona’s controversial response was, “Let them wonder if it makes me relevant! Miona assured the fan that she isn’t pretending to be someone she isn’t since “solving the riddle” would ruin the experience.
Fans started saying things like, “So 90 days isn’t even performing background checks anymore?” and “Miona appears more like she’s cosplaying a Kardashian who is Blackfishing…sigh.”
It is true that Miona made a public declaration online in which she revealed her Serbian heritage. In contrast, Miona stated that DNA testing revealed that her ancestry included both Middle Eastern and Mexican components.
Miona wants to identify as Serbian since she recognizes that as a distinct culture. Miona’s answer did not win over her fans because they felt she had missed the point. When defending traditional Serbian hairstyles, Miona avoided talking about her recent skin color change and the fact that she uses wigs. Fans don’t mind that Miona is proud of her heritage, but they do mind that she completely dismissed the allegations of blackfishing in her statement. Miona still has more episodes to air on 90 Day Fiancé, so hopefully, she’ll address viewers’ concerns about her transformation then.
