For those who don’t know, Ree Drummond is a multi-talented American blogger, novelist, food writer, photographer, TV personality, and celebrity chef. Ree has access to her husband’s wealthy relatives and stands to gain significantly.
Ladd, Ree’s husband, comes from a family that has amassed more than 400 thousand acres of land in the USA. Along with her husband and four kids, she raises cattle on a ranch outside of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Her Food Network show, “The Pioneer Woman,” has been running since 2011.
Ann Marie “Ree” Smith was born to orthopedic physician William “Bill” Smith and Gerre Schwert Smith on January 6, 1969, in Oklahoma. Bartlesville, Oklahoma is where Ree and her three siblings (brothers Doug and Mike and sister Betsy) spent their childhood. The town lies about 50 miles north of Tulsa, close to the Kansas border, and is best known for its oil industry.
In 1987 she completed high school at Bartlesville. She moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California. During college, she was active in the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She earned her bachelor’s degree in gerontology back in 1991. She planned to spend the summer with her family before joining her then-boyfriend in Chicago to pursue a legal education. The night she met Ladd Drummond in a bar, though, everything changed.
In 2006, Ree Drummond started a blog where she discussed homeschooling and provided detailed cooking directions and images. Although it began as Confessions of a Pioneer Woman, her site, The Pioneer Woman, went on to earn numerous accolades, including the top prize at the Weblog Awards. Moreover, the blog was recognized as the Best Weblog of 2010.
It was also her idea to create the well-known recipe website TastyKitchen.com. She’s written several works that become instant classics. Her memoir, From Black Heels to Tractor Wheels, about her transition from Los Angeles and intentions to attend law school in Chicago to life on a rural ranch in Oklahoma, was in talks to be made into a movie with Reese Witherspoon playing Ree, and it reached #2 on the New York Times Bestseller List.
The expected result never occurred. In addition, she has authored the best-selling cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks Food from My Frontier. She has written several other novels, including Charlie and the Christmas Kitty, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: A Year of Holidays, and Charlie and the New Baby. Drummond, as of this writing, is the author of fifteen books.
The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and BusinessWeek have all mentioned Drummond’s blog. Among the “25 Best Blogs” in the world, Time magazine included Drummond’s Confessions of a Pioneer Woman in 2009.
On an episode of Throwdown! with Bobby Flay, Drummond made his television debut. She issued a Thanksgiving cooking challenge to the famous cook. For the occasion, Flay traveled to Ree’s ranch in Oklahoma. The Food Network aired the program in November of 2010. With only a hair’s breadth, Drummond triumphed over Flay. After a year of preparation, Ree Drummond’s “The Pioneer Woman” premiered on the Food Network.

The Drummonds purchased a property in the heart of Pawhuska’s historic district in 2012 and began extensive renovations that culminated in the opening of The Merc, a restaurant and retail store, in late 2016. The Drummonds also started running a bed and breakfast they named The Boarding House in April of 2018.
Two more businesses owned by the Drummonds, P-Town Pizza and Charlie’s Sweet Shop, may be found in the heart of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Ree hoped that visitors would take the same pleasure in her quaint community that she does whenever she had guests. The Lodge, her ranch’s main building and the site of her photoshoots and TV tapings, is also open for tours.
On her website, Ree suggests a variety of things to do in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, such as shopping at Osage Outfitters for genuine cowboy boots, crossing the historic 1926 swinging wooden bridge, learning about the local Osage tribe at the Osage Nation Museum, and taking in the beautiful Tall Grass Prairie Preserve.
She has amassed a net worth of $50 million so far.
Ladd Drummond’s family is the twenty-third greatest landowner in the United States. Together, they control an incredible 433,000 acres or almost 675 square miles. An official report claims that the United States government has paid the Drummond family over $24 million in rent over the past decade.
They receive about $2 million annually to provide protection for the wild horses and burros that are kept on their land. The Bureau of Land Management has reportedly paid $23.9 million to Drummond Land & Cattle Co. since December 2006.
The majority of rent money has gone toward animal welfare on their enormous farm. The Ladd family, originally from Scotland, now runs the Drummond Land & Cattle Co. which was established by family patriarch Fred Drummond in the late 1800s. Records from the government show that there are only four people listed as owners of the Drummond company.
Four employees work at the privately held Drummond Land & Cattle Co., which generates $2.5 million in annual income. Each year, the Bureau of Land Management in the United States writes a cheque to the Drummond Land & Cattle firm.

In the mid-1990s, Ree and Ladd Drummond met in a bar and quickly became romantically involved. On September 21 of 1996, Ree tied the knot with Ladd. She calls her hubby “The Marlboro Man” in her books and on her blog. As newlyweds, they jetted off to Oz for a romantic honeymoon. About eight miles west of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, is where the Drummonds make their home on a cattle ranch.
Cattle ranching in Oklahoma has been in the Drummond family for four generations, and Ladd Drummond is the fourth generation to carry on the tradition. Ree Drummond first encountered Ladd Drummond after he had established himself as a cowboy. His alma mater is Arizona State, from where he graduated.
Alex, Paige, Bryce, and Todd are their four offspring. Alex has a degree from Texas A&M University, while Paige is a student at the University of Arkansas. The family opts to educate their kids at home.
