Before auditioning for the second series of “The X Factor,” Shayne Ward made it to Walsh’s top four contestants and performed on the live shows after making it to the last thirty on “Popstars: The Rivals” in 2002. Despite not being in the bottom two once during the competition, he was declared the season’s champion after garnering 10.8 million phone votes from fans and winning by just 1.2 percent of the vote.
