“Stranger Things” Love Triangle: Natalia Dyer Discussed the Relationship Between Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan!

Warning: Season 4 of Stranger Things ending spoilers coming. While the Stranger Things Season 4 finale was not short on sadness (RIP, Eddie... and perhaps Max? ), the new book did offer a few occasions for laughter, especially if you're a fan of the Stancy pairing. Eddie witnessed first-hand Nancy's continued love for Steve as she dived into the Upside Down to save him, as you may remember from Volume 1. In Episode 7, Eddie states, "If I were you, I'd get her back." For these jaded eyes, that is the clearest indication of pure love they have ever witnessed. Eddie's counsel must have struck Steve quite a bit since in Volume 2, he puts it into action. He first tells Nancy that he always wanted a family of six children before informing her "the most important aspect" of that dream was Nancy herself. You are there, he declares. "You've been there forever," Aww... Robin interrupts them just as it looks like something could happen between the two of them, and of course, Jonathan's appearance at the end of the episode further confuses everything. Steve has, however, "really grown up quite a bit," as Nancy explains to her beau. She responds to Jonathan's inquiry about if their relationship is still healthy by saying yes, but adding that "life keeps throwing stuff in the way of our great goals." How far along is the Stranger Things love triangle at this point? It's incredibly difficult, as Nancy's actor Natalia Dyer recently said to Variety. Although the actor and Charlie Heaton, who plays Jonathan, are happily married in real life, she could want something different for Nancy on screen. She seems to have been in a relationship for some time, so perhaps she needs some alone time to reflect. I would hope that she acts honourably in whatever she undertakes, Dyer remarked in the interview on July 4. "I had some nitpicky thoughts about how the Jonathan situation began somewhat behind Steve's back. I find it hard to believe she did that. I can, I guess. Dyer said that she is supportive of Nancy and Steve's new dynamic, whatever you want to call it, and noted that "Nancy and Steve have come so far." The fact that these two people still care about one another is something that this season hits on, she said. "I don't know what that is or what label you want to give it, but we see these characters reuniting after growing up and experiencing life with it. So playing that was incredibly enjoyable. It was both heartwarming and fun. Dyer said she had "no idea where it's going to go, but I do enjoy that they at least still care about one other" as she anticipates the fifth and final season of the programme.
