The Sex Lives Of College Girls Season 2 Release Date: Cast, Plot & Latest Updates For 2022!

The Sex Lives Of College Girls Season 2

“The Sex Lives of College Girls” began on HBO Max in late November and concluded its first season on December 9 — but not before it was renewed for a second season (via The Hollywood Reporter).

“The Sex Lives of College Girls,” created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, follows four 18-year-old housemates as they manage their newfound freedom, including the chance to explore their sexuality.

There’s Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), a work-study student from a small town who has just been dumped by her high school lover and is about to start her freshman year. Bela (Amrit Kaur) has two big objectives for the year: get into the campus comedy magazine and have a lot of sex.

Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) is the daughter of a senator and a professional soccer player who is having an affair with her married coach.

Then there’s Leighton (Reneé Rapp), an affluent New York legacy student who can’t come out as a lesbian, which interferes with her growing romance with another student.

Throughout Season 1, we watch this foursome confront a variety of challenges in their first few months of college, ranging from employment harassment to relationship issues to an academic cheating scandal.

Throughout these trials, we saw the four women become closer and encourage one another. Following a wild cliffhanger at the end of Episode 10, “The Truth,” fans of the program are naturally eager for more.

When Will Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls Be Released?

There is no word on when HBO Max will broadcast the second season of “The Sex Lives of College Girls” as of this writing.

The series was renewed on December 7, just two days before the series finale, which was set to air on December 9. Given the short time since the announcement, it’s understandable that we don’t have any further information on when Season 2 production will begin.

For now, we can hypothesize about when the next set of episodes of “The Sex Lives of College Girls” will air by looking at another HBO Max original series. Given the proximity of the renewal and release dates, we can expect Season 2 of “The Sex Lives of College Girl” to air in about a year, albeit this is a rough estimate.

As a result, depending on when production for the following season begins, a possible release date might be late 2022 or early 2023. It’s much more likely that new episodes will be released before the end of the year if production begins right at the start of the new year.

Of course, fans of the program are eagerly anticipating the release of the new episodes, but we’ll have to wait and see when production begins to guess on a release date.

Who Will Star in Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls?

Our four main characters — Pauline Chalamet as Kimberly, Amrit Kaur as Bela, Reneé Rapp as Leighton, and Alyah Chanelle Scott as Whitney — will almost probably return for Season 2. Season 1 finished with open-ended narratives for all four characters, allowing their arcs to continue into the next batch of episodes.

“The Sex Lives of College Girls” is notable since it is each of these four actors’ first major on-screen role.

Gavin Leatherwood, Midori Francis, Ilia Isorels Paulino, Chris Meyer, and Renika Williams are among the actors we may expect to see again, in addition to the key quartet. Nico, Leighton’s brother, develops a sexual relationship with Kimberly, and Leatherwood plays him (despite his having a girlfriend).

Alicia, Leighton’s love interest, is played by Francis, who is troubled by the fact that Leighton is still in the closet. Lila and Canaan, Kimberly’s coffee shop coworkers, are played by Paulino and Meyer, and the latter begins dating Whitney at the end of Season 1. Willow, Whitney’s companion, and teammate is played by Williams. A couple of Bela’s fellow comedic writers from The Catullan are also expected to appear, including Eric (Mekki Leeper) and Evangeline (Sierra Katow).

In Season 2, we can probably expect more appearances from the girls’ parents. Whitney’s mother, Senator Evette Chase, is played by Sherri Shepherd; Leighton’s father (and Essex alum) Henry is played by Rob Huebel; Kimberly’s mother Carol is played by Nicole Sullivan; and Bela’s parents, Nevaan and Reena, are played by Mueen Jahan and Kavi Ramachandran Ladnier.

What Is the Plot of Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls?

Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) announces she is not expelled despite being found cheating on her exam in the closing scene of Season 1, but she does lose her scholarship.

Kimberly has financial problems during the season. Because of her working-class upbringing, the only way she can afford to attend Essex is through a work-study program, which, along with that much-needed scholarship, keeps her afloat. To stay in school, she now needs to raise upwards of $20,000 per semester.

Meanwhile, due to Leighton’s refusal to come out, Alicia (Midori Francis) and Leighton (Renée Rapp) part up. After the split, a sad Leighton eventually tells Kimberly the truth about her feelings. We can anticipate this Essex legacy to continue to confront her reasons for wanting to remain in the closet in the coming season, ideally with Kimberly by her side to support her.

After sexually harassing Bela twice, Ryan (Conor Donnally) is successfully kicked out of The Catullan. Despite her victory, she suffers hostility from male coworkers, causing her to resign.

After that, two female Catullan writers departed as well, pitching Bela on launching their own women’s comedic magazine, which will most likely happen in Season 2. In addition, the climax teases a possible romance between Bela and Eric (Mekki Leeper).

Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) finally discloses to her mother that she had an affair with her coach (James Morosini). She’s also dating Kimberly’s coworker, Canaan (Christopher Meyer), so we can probably expect their romance to blossom in the coming season. Season 2 of “The Sex Lives of College Girls” promises to be exciting for Kimberly, Leighton, Bela, and Whitney.
