Grant Gustin, better known to “Arrowverse” fans as Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, is not only quick; he also works hard to be strong. Ben Bruno, a celebrity personal trainer who works with Giancarlo Stanton, Jessica Biel, Chelsea Handler, and others, just posted a photo of the actor’s most recent full-body exercise on Instagram to show off the progress he’s been making.

The ninth and last season of The Flash is presently in production, and Gustin is getting ready for it. Many of his internet followers, meanwhile, are now eager for him to take over the role on the big screen.

Because of his anxiety and the toxicity of social media, Grant admitted that he had been on a very unhealthy schedule. To break this pattern, he turned to exercise, meditation, healthy nutrition, and mindfulness.

Grant said that his training for The Flash involved a lot of jogging and that he has been working with an Olympic running coach for some time in a 2014 interview. Additionally, his exercise program included hours of continuous stretching.

Through these exercises, he put on some weight, which he tried to keep off while shooting by continuing to run and engage in physical activities.

Gustin has remarked on occasion that in order to play Barry Allen,  he had to be thin. And he did not have to keep track of his caloric intake in order to maintain the size required for his part. Additionally, for a body like Gustin, sometimes eating more healthily leads to overall improved health.

In his answer, Gustin attacked the “double standard” that he believes exists when it comes to body-shaming guys.

Grant Gustin replied:

“That’s a terrible photo that I was unaware was being taken, much less being posted. Some things need work and they will be worked on. We’ll get there. As far as body shaming. That’s what pisses me off. Not even just for my sake. I’ve had 20+ years of kids and adults telling me or my parents I was too thin.

Grant Gustin added:

“There’s a double standard where it’s ok to talk s— about a dude’s body. I do my best to stay in shape and add as much size as I can throughout these seasons. I’m naturally thin, and my appetite is greatly affected by stress.”

He also took use of the occasion to support victims of body shaming:

“I went to an audition for a role I never dreamed I’d actually book. But, here I am 5 seasons later. I’m happy with my body and who I am and other kids who are built like me and thinner than me should be able to feel the same way.”

Co-stars like Danielle Panabaker and even Olympians like Chloe Kim commended his courage to speak his truth and be honest when he shared his statement.
